Follow Me On Bloglovin’… And I’m Moving!

Hey all you WordPress followers, so for a while now I have had both a WordPress for LetitiaHarriet and a Blogspot. I posted the exact same content on both. The reason I did this was because originally I wanted to change from blogger (I’d had it before but ended up stopping blogging). But as a little time went on I thought it would be best to use both platforms, and see which I preferred and which my follows preferred.

I have chosen Blogger to be my main platform from now on! :3

Now all you WordPress followers needn’t worry becaaauuuse… I have Bloglovin’! For anyone that doesn’t have it and is skeptical of it, don’t be. It is so simple to use and has made my life so much simpler. Here’s the link to the post where I talk about Bloglovin’: http://letitiaharriet.blogspot.ie/2013/03/follow-me-on-bloglovin.html

I will be emailing you all individually too, so I guess next time I see you will be over at Blogger/ Bloglovin’. Have a great day…

Product Review: BH Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palettes

Today I am going to be doing a review on some of the BH Cosmetic palettes I mentioned in another post.

You can see the palettes I’ve used below and for the most part they are really good. They aren’t the best quality eyeshadows ever but for the price they are super worth it. Since I bought 4 of the palettes I had lots of variety to chose from. The shimmer shadows were quite pigmented and something to note is that even if you buy one of the ‘matte’ palettes, you will still get quite a bit of shimmery shadows including, which is kind of weird but I digress.

As I said, the shimmer shadows were pretty pigmented, blendable and easy to apply with not a lot of fallout. The matte shadows were slightly harder to work with and you didn’t get nearly the amount of colour payoff, but for the amount of shadows you get this isn’t really the biggest problem in the world.

I found that with a primer like the Urban Decay Primer Potion, the shadows stayed put for a lot of the day and weren’t too prone to creasing. Ultimately I think that for the price and the amount of shadows you get, you can’t really go wrong with buying these palettes or similar ones on the market.

If you have these palettes or anything similar, let me know what you thought about them. :)

My Beauty Wish List!

I often have a build up of products that I want to get but usually I don’t have the money to spend on makeup as I have other more important things to pay for… Like college! But here’s just a few of the things that are on my beauty wish list at the moment.

 Parian Spirit Brush Cleaning System

I’ve heard so many people on youtube and the blogosphere rave about this product, and since cleaning my brushes is one of my most hated things to do I really wanna give this a shot!

Real Techniques Brushes

I assume most of you will recognize these. I’ve seen them used so many times and I need all of them in my life!

Nyx Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils

How I have managed to go this long without buying any of these I will never know…

Sugarpill Palettes

Need. All. Of. These.

Mehron Palettes

These are water activated palettes that you can use anywhere. They are sooo multipurpose and awesome!

Bioderma

The now infamous Bioderma. I’ve been wanted to try this for ages and just haven’t had a chance yet. Since my skin is oily/ combination I’ll probably be getting the one in the green packaging. :)

Lush ‘Big’ Shampoo

My hair falls really flat at my roots so my hair generally looks awful no matter what I do. I’ve heard really good things about this shampoo so I’m really looking forward to trying it.

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque

I don’t use a ridiculous amount of heat or anything on my hair but I do tend to get a lot of split ends and I just really want to see how this works and if it makes my hair less brittle.

There are tons more things on my wish list (as with mostly everyone), but these are just some of the ones I picked. I will eventually buy all of these items so if you’re interested in seeing any of my opinions of any of the products let me know. :)

Product Review: Urban Decay Ammo Palette

I bought the Urban Decay Ammo Palette last year as a birthday present to myself. This palette contains ten colours and retails for £27. However as I bought it on a ‘Duty Free Prices” sale I grabbed it for only £22.50! Yay! :3 You can find this palette at any Urban Decay counter or online. I got mine at Debenhams.
 b c
This palette is made up of ten shimmery colours, which in retrospect, can be limiting for some looks. It is also loaded with the infamous Urban Decay glitter that likes to rain down your face, but all the colours are super pigmented and stay put all day, especially when used with the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Plus, only £22.50 for ten shadows?! It was well worth it. It also comes with a mirror and a double-sided applicator. The colours in this palette also all coordinate with each other (AKA The shadow on the bottom line of the palette coordinates with the shadow above it). I thought this was a really clever idea! I use this palette a lot and even though my collection has begun to grow I still find myself reaching for it.  (P.S. The packaging for this product is another reason to buy it… It’s so cute! And easy to travel with because it’s so compact!)

Leave any suggestions and requests in the comments below! :)

Split Ends

Tumblr_lz6pm5tjl81rob4n4o1_500_large

In this post I’m going to talk about split ends, what causes them and ultimately how to avoid getting them in the first place. Although they is no true way to stop getting split ends, there are ways that it can be avoided. Split ends can be caused by any number of things, from excessive brushing, to over styling (especially with heated tools), to washing your hair too often. Getting a shampoo or conditioner, or any split end treatment should help to combat getting them too often.

Unfortunately the only fool proof way to get rid of split ends is to cut them off. Getting a regular trim every six to eight weeks is good for your hair. Even if you are trying to grow it out. Trying to grow out your hair with split ends is really a battle that you can’t win. Your hair will eventually break off at the ends from the stress and you’ll end up with your hair being shorter than if you had just had it trimmed in the first place!

Here are some tips to preventing getting your split ends:

  1. Avoid putting a lot of heat on your hair. I use heat almost every day, but try find ways of styling you hair that doesn’t involve heat. Like, scrunching your hair or doing it up in a messy bun.
  2. When you’re finished showering rinse your hair with cold water. It will seal the ends of your hair and the cuticles, and will leave your hair smooth. I do this trick every time I wash my hair and it really works.
  3. ALWAYS used a heat protectant before you dry or style your hair. This is probably one of my biggest pet peeves. It’ll protect you hair from the heat and prevent excess damage.
  4. Comb you hair with a wide toothed comb after you shower. Never a narrow toothed comb, and never a brush. These will only break your hair.
  5. Avoid teasing or backcombing your hair. On occasion it can be a nice change, but remember that this can break the hairs near the root, so doing it daily is very damaging for your hair.
  6. Try to deep condition your hair every one to two weeks.
  7. Don’t use hair bobbles with a metal connector. These can also break your hair.

Tools you’ll need:

  • Wide toothed comb
  • A good daily shampoo and conditioner
  • A weekly hair mask or deep conditioner
  • Hair bobbles that are glued instead of ones with metal connectors

I hope this was helpful for you. =3

Product Review: The Body Shop Lip Balm

I received 5 of these lip balm in a set as a Christmas present, all packaged up in a giant lollipop. Since then I have been using them and I have to say I love them! =3 These lip balms are very moisturizing and come in lots of different flavours. The flavours I have are Watermelon, Strawberry, Raspberry, Passionberry and Mango Peach. I use them all and love them, but I have to say my most used is definitely the Watermelon. I think it’s because every time I put it on my lips I end up licking it all off because it’s delicious. They all have a very slight tint to them and so they looks good over nearly all lip colours, or on their own.
These retail for £2 each and can be purchased at any of The Body Shop’s stores.

Have you tried these lip balms? Or do you have a favourite lip balm? Share in the comments below. And leave any requests or suggestions. :3

Flower Power!

I love having fresh flowers in my room. They just make such an impact on my mood. They make me feel happy, less stressed and just all around in a better mood. But what I didn’t know is that this is actually scientifically proven. Studies have been done that show when people see fresh flowers they automatically feel happy or excited. They also make people feel less agitated and less depressed.

Flowers have also been used for medicinal purposes. Roses have been used help digestion and help heal the liver, and Dandelions have been used to help with anemia and jaundice. But I wouldn’t recommend just chowing down on them! :L

Also, depending on the colour, the flowers can have different benefits. Find out which colour is most beneficial to you:

Red: Boosts energy.

Indigo: Regulates sleep. Helps with anxiety. Triggers relaxation.

Yellow: Helps to make you more alert and think better. Helps optimism.

Green: Calming.

Orange: Helps immune system, lungs and digestion.

Violet: Suppresses hunger. Balances metabolism. Releases endorphins (the hormones that make you happy!) :)

Will you be going out and getting some fresh flowers now that you know all the benefits?
